PantryPic #362: Manuka Honey

-Manuka Honey.
-Should be unpasturized and have “UMF” quality trademark label.
-Can be worth the extra cost:
Compared to other types of honey, Manuka honey has been shown to be more potent and health-boosting because of its higher methylglyoxal (MG) concentration.
-Produced by bees that tended to flowers of the Manuka plant
(also known as tea tree).
-Great for soothing sore throats, oral health, relieving sinus infections, and avoiding the common cold.
-Can help relieve bloating, indigestion, allergies, and boost energy.
-The anti-inflammatory effects can help skin issues and lessen irritation
(some studies have shown that Manuka Honey may heal eczema-affected skin).
-Clinical trials revealed it is able to eradicate 250 bacterial strains
(including antibiotic-resistant MRSA, MSSA, and VRE).

-Manuka Honey is great to use in low amounts as a natural sweetener.
-Add a tablespoon (or less) to your favorite Organic Tea or use in my Healthy Fat Energy Balls!
-Can be used topically for wound healing and also combined with tea tree oil for an acne face wash.
(2 Tbsp Manuka Honey + 5 drops Tea Tree Oil, rub on your face, leave on for one minute, then rinse off.)

*should avoid if you have blood sugar problems, cancer, or are allergic to bees.*
